"The dream is a little hidden door in the innermost and most secret recesses of the soul." - Carl Jung
Dreams offer a guiding wisdom that transcends our conscious mind. As a dreamwork practitioner and trainee psychotherapist, I help individuals unlock this wisdom through one-on-one sessions and facilitated dream groups.
My Background
As a Cambridge undergraduate I specialised in the dream paintings of Surrealists, and then went on to a Postgraduate degree in Psychodynamic Counselling at Oxford. I have an Advanced certificate in Dreamwork from the Dream Research Institute and am on the Diploma in Counselling and Psychotherapy at the Centre for Counselling and Psychotherapy Education (CCPE).
Approach to Dreamwork
Iām interested in dreams as integral to the therapeutic process, but also as a universally accessible, standalone practice for personal transformation. Daily dreamwork is a practice Dreams can help us connect our inner and outer lives, unlock creativity and connect to our bodies.
Professional Experience
In 2018, I founded the platform d.REM, to explore the relationship between art and dreams. Through a dream intervention at the Freud Museum and an overnight radio programme on Resonance, artists attempted to penetrate the dream state by curating sleeping environments. Since 2021 I have been organising dream events, leading dream groups in the Waking Dream technique. I have also worked with the Dream Research Institute, a charity and research centre exploring the relationship of dreams and well-being from the spiritual perspective.
My Approach
Exploring the Language of Dreams
Dreams speak to us in a rich, symbolic language. My approach to dreamwork helps you understand this language, offering a path to deeper self-knowledge and personal growth.
The Dreamwork Process
My method combines associative and experiential exploration of dreams. We begin by enhancing your ability to recall and record dreams, laying the groundwork for our work together. As we explore the elements of your dreams, you'll learn to recognize patterns and understand their significance in the context of your life.
A key component of our sessions is the Waking Dream Process, a technique inspired by Eugene Gendlin's Focusing method and developed by Nigel Hamilton, founder of the Dream Research Institute. This approach allows you to revisit your dreams in a waking state, paying particular attention to bodily sensations and allowing your imagination to guide you towards deeper insights.
By engaging both cognitive understanding and embodied experience, we create a comprehensive approach to dreamwork. This dual method often reveals connections and insights that might be missed through more traditional analysis alone.
Session Structure
Our dreamwork sessions take place weekly, either online or in-person, and last for one hour. This regular schedule allows for continuity in our work, giving you time to integrate insights between sessions.
During our time together, we'll trace through the elements of your dreams, exploring your associations and how they relate to your waking life. We'll then delve into the experiential aspect, using the Waking Dream Process to uncover layers of meaning that may not be immediately apparent.
As our work progresses, you'll develop a more nuanced understanding of your dream life. You'll learn to recognize recurring themes, understand personal symbols, and apply the wisdom of your dreams to your daily experiences.
The Value of Dreamwork
Engaging with your dreams in this way can lead to profound self-discovery. By better understanding the language of your dreams, you open a channel to your unconscious, gaining access to a wealth of personal insight and creative potential.
Whether you're seeking personal growth, creative inspiration, or simply a deeper understanding of yourself, dreamwork offers a unique and powerful tool for exploration.
If you're ready to begin this journey of self-discovery through your dreams, I invite you to get in touch.
